The invention concerns a method for processing uncertain data from a plurality of heterogeneous sources, suitable for being applied to a system for automatic decision support based on uncertain data. The method of the invention is used to obtain (38) a plurality of data sets to be merged from a hierarchical structured model defining entities and relationships between said entities, said entities being representative of the data to be merged, and a plurality of observations, each observation having an associated level of certainty of observation, each observation being formed from data values corresponding to at least a portion of the entities of said hierarchical structured model, and to calculate (40), for each data set to be merged, an associated overall level of certainty taking into consideration the level of certainty of observation associated with each observation contributing to said data sets to be merged. The invention also concerns a decision support method associated with the method for processing uncertain information.
