A method of printing one or more structures using a printing system, is disclosed. The method includes discharging a printed material from a nozzle onto a print surface; forming at least a first layer of a first structure using the printed material; placing at least a first portion of an element adjacent the first layer of the first structure, wherein the at least a first portion of the element is in contact with the first structure; forming at least a second layer of the first structure using the printed material and enclosing the element at least partially within the first structure; and removing the at least a first portion of the element from the first structure to form a first tunnel in the first structure.
