To provide a seismic isolation damper which has all of following characteristics: a deformation property to cope with the relative story displacement, non directional property in damping performance, a mechanism to relieve the axial tension and a space-saving mechanism to be installed in a small space.SOLUTION: A seismic isolation damper 1 has a lower steel bar 9 with its lower end fixed to a lower structure 3 and its upper end extending toward an upper structure 5, an upper steel bar 11 with its upper end fixed to the upper structure 5 and its lower end extending toward the lower structure 3 and located below the upper end of the lower steel bar 9, and a perforated plate 15 with an insertion hole 13 in which the lower steel bar 9 is insertable. In a state that the fore end of the lower steel bar 11 is inserted in the insertion hole 13, the perforated plate 15 is arranged to connect to both lower steel bar 9 and upper steel bar 11. When a relative story displacement takes place between the lower structure 3 and the upper structure 5 at earthquake time, a pressure is applied to the lower steel bar 9 and the upper steel bar 11 in a direction perpendicularly crossing the shaft line so that the lower steel bar 9 and the upper steel bar 11 are bent and deformed to absorb the seismic energy.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
