The present invention provides a novel use of the extract of Maydis stigma for preventing, improving or treating sleep disorders. The extract of Okchok Calligraphy has an effect of reducing the elevation time and increasing the duration of sleep, which is equal to or higher than that of ketamine or pentobarbital, which are drugs used as conventional sleep inducing agents. The extract of Okchok Calligraphy is a natural product and does not have side effects such as cytotoxicity, tolerance or dependence even when used for a long time.
