The present invention relates to a process for destroying asbestos-containing waste, characterized in that it comprises at least the stages of sorting the waste, of grinding, of incineration in an incineration furnace of crushed waste to obtain clinker, each incineration being carried out for a category of waste, melting by the Joule effect in a bottom ash melting furnace to obtain the molten waste to be molded in an ingot system (s) to obtain ingots, treatment of the fumes produced by the incineration directly from the incineration furnace and the fumes produced by the smelting directly from the smelting furnace. The invention also relates to the installation allowing the implementation of the method.
