The present invention relates to a composition for the prevention or treatment of dermatitis comprising a complex extract of Astragalus membranaceus and Hyeonggae as an active ingredient, wherein the composition reduces the number of mast cells infiltrating the skin tissue, and NGF (nerve growth factor) and TrkA (tropomyosin receptor kinase A) expression, Raf, MEK (mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase) and ERK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) phosphorylation, and the composition reduces the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. And, it has the effect of increasing the expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines, and reducing the expression of Th2 specific cytokines, and thus can be usefully used in the prevention, improvement or treatment of dermatitis.
