METHOD FOR MAKING A PANEL OF LAMINATED VENEER LUMBER AND/OR LAMINATED VENEER BOARD FOR OUTDOOR USAGE

The present invention relates to a panel of laminated veneer lumber (LVL) or laminated veneer board (LVB) for outdoor usage with good dimensional stability. The veneers being of at least more than one wood species and having particular treatment methodology, and species arrangement. The particular veneer lay-up, species arrangement, and treatment methodology, minimize the tendency of warping and cracking of the LVL and LVB, improve stability of LVL and LVB, and also increase durability of LVL and LVB for outdoor usage. All veneers are treated using impregnation technology. Low molecular weight phenol is injected into each veneer to ensure each veneer is (i) durable for outdoor, (ii) stable in dimension, and (iii) achieving the desired density of minimum 820kg/m3. Different species can be applied in each impregnated veneer to obtain the desired properties of LVL and LVB for outdoor usage. The LVL and LVB would maximize strengths of each species to create a high quality engineered wood products for outdoor usage.
