Thrust reverser (10) for a jet engine nacelle (1) comprising means (13; 13'; 13'') for deflecting at least a part of the air flow (F) in the jet engine, and at least one cover (14) that is movable in translation with respect to an external fixed structure (11) of the reverser, the reverser having at least one rotationally articulated flap (15), said movable cover (14) being able to pass alternately from a closed position, in which it ensures the aerodynamic continuity of the nacelle (1) with the flap (15) and covers the deflecting means (13; 13'; 13''), the flap (15) being in a retracted position, to an open position, in which it opens a passage in the nacelle (1) and uncovers the deflecting means (13; 13'; 13''), the flap (15) shutting off a part of an annular duct (7) in the nacelle (1), characterized in that it comprises a cable-pulley system (20-25; 20'-25'; 20''-25'') for driving the flap (15).
