The present invention relates to an apparatus for a satellite, capable of earth observation and quantum key distribution. The apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an optical system for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves transmitted from the ground surface; an image detection sensor unit for converting, into an electrical signal for earth observation, at least one predetermined wavelength band from the electromagnetic waves focused through the optical system; and a quantum key distribution transmission and reception unit for converting, into an electrical signal for quantum key distribution, at least one particular wavelength band from the electromagnetic waves focused through the optical system or transmitting, to the ground surface through the optical system, a quantum signal output from a light source, wherein the image detection sensor unit and the quantum key distribution transmission and reception unit may be arranged on the basis of a focal plane determined by the focal length of the optical system.
