The purpose of the present invention is to provide a lubricating oil composition that has a higher viscosity index (viscosity being less temperature dependent), and excellent low-temperature viscosity characteristics. The present invention pertains to a lubricating oil composition containing a resin (A) and a base oil (B), and is characterized in that the resin (A) satisfies requirements (A-1) to (A-3), the base oil (B) satisfies a requirement (B-1), and the content ratio of the resin (A) and the base oil (B) is such that the resin (A) falls within the range of 0.01-50 parts by mass, where the sum of the resin (A) and the base oil (B) is 100 parts by mass. (A-1) A polymer containing 60-99 mol% of a constituent unit derived from 4-methyl-1-pentene and 1-40 mol% of a constituent unit derived from an α-olefin (excluding 4-methyl-1-pentene) having 2-20 carbon atoms (where the sum of 4-methyl-1-pentene and the α-olefin is 100 mol%). (A-2) A limiting viscosity [η] as measured in decalin at 135°C is in the range of 0.01-5.0 dl/g. (A-3) A melting point (Tm) as measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is in the range of 110-150°C. (B-1) A kinematic viscosity at 100°C is in the range of 1-50 mm2/s.
