Conveying systems, such as conveying systems for materials containing non-ferrous metals, include a conveying belt and a stabilizer. The conveying belt comprises a conveying surface and is adapted to convey material on the conveying surface. A method of stabilizing a material on a conveyor belt includes receiving material on the conveying side of the conveyor belt, conveying the material at a conveying speed to the conveyor belt, and the vertical displacement of at least a portion of the material damping and/or at the conveying rate. And applying a stabilizing force to the material with a stabilizer to minimize it.
