PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an α-MgAgSb thermoelectric conversion material having high thermoelectric performance at around 200 ° C. and having few defects, and a manufacturing method capable of mass-synthesizing the material. A method for producing a thermoelectric conversion material composed of α-MgAgSb, in which a mixture or mother alloy having a predetermined component composition composed of Mg, Ag and Sb is heated and melted, and the solidified body is made into a β-MgAgSb single phase. It is characterized in that it is heated and held at a temperature in the temperature range and then cooled to obtain an α-MgAgSb single-phase melt-solidified body. Further, the α-MgAgSb thermoelectric material is composed of an α-MgAgSb single-phase melt-solidified body, and is characterized in that the thermoelectric figure of merit ZT value at 470K is 0.9 or more.
