The present invention relates to a transgenic dog that overexpresses the peroxisome proliferative activating receptor alpha (PPARα) specifically in muscle, and a method for producing the same, and to the use thereof, in particular, a transformation to specifically overexpress the PPARα protein in muscle tissue. It relates to the use of the dog as an animal model of obesity resistance with increased fatty acid oxidation and energy expenditure.
