Calculating - apparatus ; steamengine indicators; scales.-Relates to a marking-board having pointers and scales for registering the effective pressure in the cylinders of steam and other fluid pressure engines. A board for a tripleexpansion engine is shown ; it has three pointers A, B, and C, one for each cylinder. The upper scales D, F, and H are so graduated that the widths of their divisions are proportional to the areas of the corresponding cylinders, and the pointers are adjusted so as to register the indicated mean pressures on them. The relative powers are indicated on the scales E, G, and H, which are graduated alike. A slide-rule is attached to the scales to enable the horse power to be found and recorded.
