16,364. Stockall, J. J. Sept. 14. Date and time printing stamps.-Fig. 1 shows a front view of the whole mechanism, and Fig. 2 is a plan without the clock at the top. The wheel z for printing the minutes turns with an arbor, which is driven at the rate of one revolution an hour through gear 2, 3 from a clock. A cam 14 fast on the same arbor as the minute type-wheel operates once an hour a lever 9 which bears a pawl 11 to drive a loose ratchet-wheel 6 of twenty-four teeth, and an attached type-wheel 5 for printing the hours A.M. and P.M. A sector q, bearing type for printing the days of the week, is operated directly from the clock by means of a connecting- rod and a snail v of seven steps. The snail turns intermittently with a wheel w driven by two pins y on a wheel x which turns once in a day. The card a inserted in a holder or carrier d in front of an inking-ribbon j is printed by a platen i operated by a hand-lever h. The lever can be turned about a central axis, and is connected, as shown, to a lever k, which raises and lowers the card carrier correspondingly. A shoulder on one edge of the card and slide p, Fig. 3, determine which side of the card is presented for the impression.
