Stiffeners; corsets.-Stiffeners for corsets &c. are made of woven, tied, pleated, or netted bands, braids, or webs A of elastic steel, brass, copper, aluminium, or other wire, bright, stained, nickel-plated, varnished, &c., or covered with any kind of stuff. The ends are covered with metal caps B having two side flaps, and, in the case of broad caps, an intermediate flap D, with or without a hole C. The wire is worked in the soft inelastic state, and afterwards hardened.
