Mounting and securing split collars, pulley bosses, &c. on shafts.-The two halves of a split collar or the like are made with annular flanges c and with interlocking tapering dovetails d. The key h is formed with longitudinal teeth on its lower face, adapted to bite into the shaft, and on its upper face with transverse ratchet teeth and a lug i ; it is of resilient material, and is driven in through one opening f in the collar and into another opening g until the lug i has cleared the opening f. The taper pins o, formed with longitudinal teeth p to bite into the shaft and circular ratchet teeth q, are then driven into the openings m, n.
