The carrier pulleys E are made with a central rib D in the bottom, forming a double groove for the rope, and adapted to pass between the jaws F3, F4 of the grip, which are tapered forward The jaws are closed on the rope by a wedge H or toggle action G, and one jaw may be extended upwards to carry pulleys running on the additional carrying-rope when that is used.
