19,017. Green, E. A. Sept. 24. Spigot-and-socket joints.-Relates to open drain channels for inspection chambers &c. Figs. 1, 2, and 3 show a plan, elevation, and crosssection, respectively, of such a channel. The half socket is made with the flange B wider at the bottom than at the sides, Fig. 1; the vertical face against which the spigot bears is made wider at the sides than at the bottom, Fig. 2, and the flange B, the inner face of which is horizontal at the bottom, bears away at the sides to form a conical seat, Figs. 1 and 2. In this way the socket is adapted to take various sizes of connections.
