Ferrocyanides.-The gases given off from the saturator, when making ammonium sulphate from ammoniacal liquor, are passed through a solution uf sulphate, chloride, or other salt of iron, rendered alkaline by addition of sodium or potassium hydrate or carbonate. The corresponding ferrocyanide is obtained and may be crystallized out, or Prussian blue may be formed and precipitated by passing perchloride or persulphate of iron into the resulting solution. Sulphur or sulphur compounds are removed from the solution, before the crystallization or precipitation, by adding carbon bisulphide, and filtering.
