Label holders.- Plates or labels bearing gauge marks and the names of firms and the like i, k are secured to the head b of a cask or the like by being threaded on an open ring d which rests on the head and against the staves, the ends e of the hoop, which are bent to enter a recess in one of the staves, being secured by a cord or the like f which is passed to a recess h in the outside of the stave in which a seal g is attached to it. The hoop c covers the recess h. The plates or labels are also riveted &c. to the head b, and the ends of the staves, being inclined inwards, hold the ring in place. By this arrangement, any tampering with the fastening is apt to be discovered. The ring may be replaced by a segment, or by wires crossing the bottom of the cask.
