9789. Keeler, H. E. April 28. Electric railways and tramways on a closedconduit system in which a traveller runs, such as described in Specification No. 9215, A.D. 1886. Conductors.-The exposed surface conductors E are raised above the level of the track rails A, B, C, D and are insulated therefrom. Gaps are left in them to allow the wheels to pass at crossings and points. Both the track rails and the conductors are made of non-magnetic material F, such as manganese steel, where they cross the conduit G, so as not to interfere with the attraction between the magnet on the vehicle and the travelling circuit closer in the conduit. The conduit may be carried under and to one side of the exposed conductor and under or through the crossing rails, which are then made with housings H through their webs.
