Couplings; switches.-A box carrying a number of switch arms movable over contact.studs, some of which are connected with divided resistances, is used in conjunction with three electrometers, a standard cell, a constant battery, and a main circuit resistance, for making measurements of current, pressure, and power supplied on a working circuit, by the potentiometer method described in Specification No. 20,862, A.D. 1899, [Abridgment Class Electricity, Measuring &c.]. The switch arms and contact-studs are arranged upon the top of the box, above which a beading supports a sheet of glass to prevent accidental contacts, the stems of the switch handles extending through holes in the glass. Terminals for connection with the main circuit and the instruments mentioned above are provided at the ends of the box, and are covered by hinged flaps at a short distance from the ends, the connecting-wires passing through the spaces thus covered, and out at the back. A plug coupling is movable vertically between three springs to disconnect the standard cell and the battery, when a cover is placed on the box.
