Cut-outs; switches.-Relates to a combined electric switch and cut-out, more particularly applicable for use on street lamp poles, brackets, and the like. On the ends of a thick insulating-ring A are mounted contact-pieces E, E, E, E, which may be electrically connected in pairs by bridging-pieces D, D, which may be laminated, carried by a lever C. The axles of the lever C are mounted in bearings in metal bars B supported on the ends of the ring A. When a single pole switch is required, only one pair of contact-pieces and one bridging- piece are used. The axle has at one end a clutch piece F, with which engages a clutch N carried by a hand-lever M, considerable lost motion being allowed between the clutches. A spring 0 is coiled up on the axle as the switch is closed, and the energy thus stored up serves to effect a sudden break. Each of the contact-pieces E, E1 receives by a clip e one end of a cut-out G, G, the other end of which is connected by a clip e to a terminal plate H. According to the Provisional Specification, a notched insulating-prop near the centre of each fuse is used to increase the length of the fuse wire. The ring A is enclosed by an insulating-ring mounted in a case I provided with end covers L, L1, by means of which the parts are readily accessible.
