Traps or catchers for flies and like insects consist of a shaped piece of paper or the like coated with fly gum or other suitable adhesive and folded into a pyramid or cone. Fig. 1 shows one method of preparing it. A series of triangular pieces of cardboard or like material a, a1, a2, a3 are attached to a shaped piece of paper so that, when folded along their edges, the paper assumes a pyramidal form. Ungummed margins a', a5 are left ; a4 is marked or perforated so that it may be readily torn off, and a5 is turned down on to the gummed surface when the trap is being set up. A string c is arranged to pull the trap into shape. It is attached to a, and passes through a3 and a1 as shown. The trap may be arranged with the gummed surface on the inside. or the outside, or both. Advertisements and directions may be printed upon it.
