Loom stop-motions; weft-replenishing mechanism.- The loom is automatically stopped when the weft breaks, and, when the supply of weft in the shuttle is nearly exhausted, the weft-replenishing mechanism is automatically brought into operation. When the weft breaks, the weft slide 11 is operated in the ordinary manner, and a spring lever 18 carried thereby is caused to operate the knocking- off lever 16. When the supply of the weft in the shuttle is nearly exhausted, the projecting arm 361, Fig. 3, on a lever 36 is prevented from entering an aperture in the side of the shuttle 7 when the lay beats up, with the result that a spring shaft 25 is turned, a bent arm 29 thereon is caused to depress the weft fork 1211 into its operative position, whilst the lever 18 is turned about its pivot 19 so as to move its end opposite the arm 17 for bringing into operation the weft-replenishing mechanism. Figs. 7, 8, 10, and 11 show two arrangements, whereby, when the weft supply is nearly exhausted, an aperture 71 in the side of the shuttle is caused to be blocked by a pivoted latch 44. The latch 44 is carried by a horizontal rod 42, and is normally held by a spring in a raised position clear of the aperture 71. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 7 and 8, a bent end of the rod carries a pin 43, which is embedded beneath the wound weft, so that, when the weft has been unwound, the pin is released, and the latch 44 is moved by its spring into the position shown. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 10 and 11, a projection 50 on the latch rod 42 engages with an arm 49 formed in one piece with a fork 46, which is thus pressed against the yarn at the base of the cop. When the cop has become unwound, the lever 49, 46 is turned into the position shown, and the latch moved so as to block the aperture 71. The latch mechanism may be carried by the base of the shuttle spindle, or be otherwise secured in a suitable gap in the shuttle.
