Omnibuses; vans.-To convert omnibuses, vans, and other vehicles into motor-driven vehicles, a bogie-truck carrying the steering and driving wheels and the engines or electric motors compensating-gear, steering-gear, driver's seat, &c., is substituted for the ordinary fore-carriage and forewheels. The truck c, Fig. 1, swivels on the perch pin and carries two internal-combustion engines or motors g. Either or both engines may be clutched to a short shaft geared to an intermediate shaft l, which is fitted with change-speed gear and compensating-gear and drives through sprocket or spur gearing. Channel-irons bolted to the body of the vehicle, may take the place of the bogie-truck, and the vehicle is then propelled by the ordinary hind wheels provided with sprocket gear. Steps.-The steps p of an omnibus are preferably made double, so that passengers mount by one half and descend by the other.
