Stoppers; bottles. -Relates to a method of securing the lids, covers, and stoppers of metal, glass, earthenware, china, wood, and other bottles, jars, pots, sauce and condiment bottles, gold, silver, and electroplated table articles, and carboys and other vessels for containing acids, oils, gases, &c. The cover of a pepper caster, shown in Fig. 2, has a corrugated, fluted, milled, or roughened edge, which engages with the interior of the mouth of the caster shown in Fig. 1, or with the bezel collar. The cover may have a plain edge, the corrugations being formed in the mouth of the caster. The receptacle may have a cover which fits over, instead of inside, its mouth, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, either the cover or the receptacle or both being fluted. A receptacle A, Fig. 9, for acids, volatile liquids, aromatic essences, spirits, gases, &c. is fitted with a stopper B having a projecting flange C. The stopper or the bottle, or both, are fluted.
