9137. Smith, R. J. April 22. Contour and profile gauges for ascertaining the positions and inclinations of pipe flanges. Fig. 1 shows the apparatus as used to ascertain the positions and inclinations of three pipes, which are to be connected by a bend with one branch. Wood flanges of the proper size are secured to metal plates 1, having split sockets 2, to receive balls on the ends of rods 8, 11. The rods 8 can be moved through the clamps 9 and secured in any desired positions. The plates 1 can be turned to any desired inclination, and secured on the balls by bolts 7 passed through lugs 6 on the split sockets. The balls have sockets adjustably secured to the rods 8, 11 by screws. From this gauge, a drawing or pattern may be made.
