12,776. Janko, D., Kiss, J., and Stirling, K. June 6. Recovering waste material.-Consists in utilizing the upper and lower layers of coal seams which have been considered as waste. The material is distilled dry. Coke, light and heavy hydrocarbons, and gas, mainly consisting of sulphuretted hydrogen, are obtained. The sulphuretted hydrogen is burnt and converted into sulphuric acid with the aid of nitric acid. The coke is treated with sulphuric acid to decompose sulphides, and the residue may be made into fuel briquettes.
