Lathes.-The feed of the grinding-wheel B or other reducing-tool is slowed down or arrested, when the rotating work A has attained a certain size, by means of a spring-controlled lever C provided with a point E which bears against the work. As the work becomes reduced, the lever C first presses against the screw P, withdrawing the slide Q and breaking an electric circuit at F. This is arranged to lessen the rate of feed of the wheel B. The lever C afterwards presses against the screw R so as to break a second electric circuit at G and stop the feed altogether. The lever may operate a pneumatic system instead of an electric system.
