20,534. Vogel, C. F. Sept. 24. Planing and shaping.-Shaping-attachments are attached to lathes and horizontal boring and milling machines. Figs. 1 and 2 show the application to a turning-lathe. Across the lathe bed, a guideway b is secured, in which a ram or arm c is reciprocated by a connecting-rod e pivoted eccentrically on a disc on the lathe spindle. A table slide g has a horizontal motion on the front of the guideway b, and is actuated by a link h from the lathe saddle i. The vertical motion of the table is as usual. A passage is provided under the ram for the insertion of long work, such as a shaft.
