Fixing. - Shoes for horses and other animals are secured by a band c, preferably of spring steel, which embraces the hoof andis attached to the shoe by countersunk screws e, f. The shoe is applied to the hoof by springing out the ends of the band after the screws f have been taken out. For unsound hoofs, a band g, which may have an inner facing of india-rubber or leatber, is passed over the upper portion of the hoof and is secured by the screws f. The shoes may be roughed by studs screwed into the bottom.
