Designing woven fabrics.-In the designing of carpets and other woven fabrics, certain figures are produced by using squared paper in the ordinary manner, so that the finest detail of the figure corresponds to one square of the paper; other figures are produced such that the finest details thereof correspond to a block of four squares o f the paper ; while still other figures are produced the finest details of which correspond to a block of nine squares of the paper. Other figures may also be produced by using as a unit thereof blocks of sixteen or more squares of the paper. Three figures of a design drawn on squared paper, in accordance with this invention are shown. The jacquard cards are punched or perforated in a corresponding manner.
