3360. Rath, W. Feb. 10. Conveyers; shoots. - Consists of means for minimizing breakage in loading coal and other broken materials. At the delivery end of a conveyor m is pivoted a plain shoot or an auxiliary conveyer, or, as shown, a shoot a with a closable outlet, such shoot &c. being so mounted as always to lie at the most suitable angle of inclination for the discharge of the material whatever the inclination of the conveyer m. This is effected by means of a parallel linkage d, l, f, h ; or by winding the chain l1 and a rope connected to the outer end of the shoot &c., on drums of the appropriate relative diameters mounted on a common shaft. Where the shoot a is fitted with a flap i, or with other means for closing its outlet, it can serve as a temporary storage receptacle while the wagons are being changed so that the feed of the material by the conveyer m need not be interrupted.
