Improvement in the Manner of Folding Letter Paper, Circulars, At Home Cards and the like to enable same to be Folded and Secured ready for Transmission without the use of an Envelope.

6495. Thompson, J. C., and Thomas, S. E. March 17. Envelopes combined with letter sheets, circulars, &c. Letter-sheets, circulars, forms, &c. are folded for transmission by post, as follows, suitable lines AB, A D, C B, Fig. 1, being, if desired, impressed or perforated on the note-paper &c. to aid in folding. In one methodthe corner C is folded to the corner B, the corner D is then folded to A, as shown in Fig. 3, and the flap E, wholly or partially gummed, is then stuck down. In another method, the edge C D is folded to the edge A B, and the doubled sheet is then folded along the lines A F, F B, the flap being stuck down as before. In order that the circular &c. may pass at the halfpenny postal rate, the flap E may be slipped into the pocket formed between the edges C D, D B, when the envelope is folded in the first way.
