Improvements in the Mode of and Means for Copying the Grained Surfaces of Wood and Transferring same to other Wood, Paper Fabric, Floor Covering and the like
20,211. McWilliams, R. H. Sept. 20. Printing on wood and the like.-Relates to a method of and means for copying the grain of selected wood upon paper, fabric, wood, floor or wall coverings, or the like. The pores or grain of the selected wood is filled with colour, the surplus colour is removed, and an impression is taken, either directly upon the surface, or indirectly by means of a flat or cylindrical transfer surface having, preferably, an elastic or resilient surface for pressing into the grain to absorb the colour. A pattern may be formed with the middle and sides of different grain. The selected wood or pattern may be arranged on a roller, the meeting edges being joined so that the grain is continuous. The relative position is shown of a design roller c, a a transfer roller b, a colour tank a, and scrapers h, h1.
