20,226. Lockie, J. Sept. 20. Hooks.-Relates to a self-opening lifting-device adapted to release bags of cement when placed in position for pier-building or like purposes. An iron bar A has at its centre a U-shaped piece B carrying at its extremity a counterweight C. Hooks D, which are secured to the bar, serve to clutch the bag of cement. The whole is suspended from a rope F by a second U-piece E having bearings e to receive suitable projections from the bar A. When the bag reaches the place where it is to be deposited, the counterweight O falls and releases the hooks.
