23,366. King's Norton Metal Co., Bayliss, T. A., and Brownsdon, H. W. Oct. 29. Explosives.-In a priming-composition, aluminium or other metallic powder is added to the substances usually employed. The powder is applied to sensitive compositions by varnishing the latter with shellac varnish containing the metallic powder in suspension. To ensure complete combustion, it may be necessary to add potassium chlorate or other oxidizing-agent to the composition. When applied to primers containing gunpowder, or any of the guncotton-nitro-glycerine explosives, the powdered metals may be added as before, or may be intimately mixed with the composition, or the composition may be varnished and the powder dusted on. The powder may be applied to sheets of paper by means of varnish, or it may be replaced, or supplemented, by discs of thin aluminium foil.
