Clinometers and compasses, magnetic; levels angle measuring and plotting instruments.-A measuring and angle-plotting rule has combined with it a level and a magnetic compass. To the slotted blade a of the rule is attached a plate b, having six notches c, d, e to engage two lugs on a bracket h, Fig. 2, for supporting the spirit level m. The bracket h is clamped to the plate b in either of two positions parallel with the blade a or in a position at right-angles to it by a screw g. The level is held between edges k, j on the bracket h. A magnetic compass o, Fig. 5, is arranged on the opposite side of the blade a, so as to enable a direction to be sighted more easily than with a compass alone.
