Diving; submarine explorations, making.-Submarine diving and salvage apparatus comprises an upper floating chamber 1 connected with an immersed chamber 2 by means of a telescopic tube 3. The lower part of the chamber 2 is made of water-tight canvas, so that movement of the upper part of the apparatus by the waves may take place without danger. The chamber 2 is lowered into position by means of winches 12, 13, and access is gained by the hoist chamber 39. Air is supplied from the compressor 42. The chamber 2 is fitted with lamps 47 and windows 48, and mud is discharged through the hopper 52 by compressed air from the pipe 60. A telephone 68 is fitted for communication with the surface. When the apparatus is raised, the door 41 is closed after the crew have passed through, and the valve 70 opened to establish equilibrium between the internal and external pressure of the entrance chamber 11.
