2626. Southerst, J. Feb. 9. Water-waste preventers.-A non- porous vessel or glass bottle a, Fig. 1, containing disinfectant, such as potassium permanganate, is placed in the flushing - cistern of a closet. The bottle a has round it projections d, the tips of which are filed off, leaving holes c; or the perforations may be made by slotting or drilling or in the processes of blowing or moulding. The bottle has a wide mouth which may be left open or provided with a cover f with a small perforation g. The inflowing water fills the bottle through the apertures g, c, and the contents of the bottle, impregnated with disinfectant, are discharged at each flush to the level of the apertures c.
