6246. Brown, N. S. March 24. Rollers and roller heads.-Relates to clearers for the rollers of preparing-frames. The clearers consist of cloth-covered rollers D which may be tubular throughout or have tubular ends; they are connected by cross-bars or by short pins C, Fig. 4, to brackets B inside a cover A pivoted at a. The cross-bars or pins are considerably less in diameter than the interior of the tube or roller, so that when in position, as in Fig. 2, the clearers revolve free of the pins C, the only function of which is to raise them with the cover A. In a modified form, the clearer-rollers are provided with end-pieces which fit into wide holes or sockets in the brackets B. The clearers may be given a reciprocating longitudinal movement by making the ends cam-shaped or inclined as in Fig. 7.
