12,693. Mortimer, J. D. June 20. Memorandum books.-A coverless memorandum book is formed of sets of leaves stitched together at A and glued at their edges B. The book is kept in a box with a lid and a false bottom K, the space serving to hold the carbon paper and its holder, which consists of a folded card E with a slit in the fold through which the carbon paper passes. A file for holding the leaves detached from the book is formed with two covers L, connected by a flexible back in two parts M, M1, one part M of which carries two bent wires N which pass through holes in the part M' when the cover is closed, and are threaded to receive nuts to retain the cover in position. The book so formed fits into a box or case, Fig. 5, with one end open and the other end having a part hinged and carrying studs R which enter holes S in the fixed part and serve as punches for the papers before filing on the wires N. The papers may be filed between index sheets, and a book when full is removed from the box and replaced by a fresh one.
