In circular glass-houses, an arc lamp b, with reflector c, is mounted upon a sleeve i carried by ball bearings k on a central support a, and is slowly rotated by means of a motor e and spur gearing f. In rectangular conservatories, the lamps are hung from carriages mounted on rollers on an angle-bar suspended from the roof, and are continuously or intermittently moved round the conservatory by means of a motor or a wire or rope. Two lamps placed back to back may travel round a conservatory consisting of two long parallel houses connected by semicircular end parts. In another arrangement, the lamp travels on rails laid round the conservatory.
