Shafts and shafting.-A flexible link shafting for transmitting large mechanical forces consists of links a, Fig. 1, which have teeth with broad lateral faces engaging each other. The teeth of succeeding links are arranged in steps, as shown in Fig. 1. The links may be connected by tubelike pieces b, Fig. 3, connected to the links by means of screws or pins m1 and together by bolts c, springs f, f1 arranged on their heads forcing the links together. The holes s and bottoms i of the joint-pieces are shaped to allow a limited movement in all directions. Oil-holes are provided in the links.
