Liquids, apparatus for treating with.-To facilitate the treatment of silk thread or yarn with liquids in the operation of de-gumming &c. when wound upon bobbins, a suitable foreign material such as cotton, linen, wool, or wire which will not shrink during the treatment is wound on the bobbin simultaneously with the silk, and forms, especially if the bobbin is cross-wound, an unshrinkable trellis which renders the bobbin permeable throughout and preserves its shape. After treatment, the silk is unwound and separated from the cotton &c., which may be used for successive operations.
