20,672. Moriz, G. Oct. 12. Pictures.-Relates to the production of relief pictures applicable to menus, Christmas cards, post cards, &c. A ground is first produced by providing a piece of cardboard with a metallic surface by means of metal bronze, foil, or metal 'paper.' The surface thus produced is then impressed by means of a relief plate, the lines of which are of varying degrees of relief and at different angles to the surface of the plate and run in different directions. The relief effect may be increased by subjecting the design to one or more sprays of colour, applied at a very small angle to the surface and in different directions, thus colouring one side of the raised lines while leaving the other with its original metallic appearance. Paintings, colours, prints, or the like may be applied to parts of the design, or openings may be made therein to expose a suitable background.
