21,790. Weston, B. S., and Wilton, H. S. Oct. 26. Punching and perforating machines for straps &c. -In a machine for punching holes in straps at regular intervals, and for like purposes, the punch G is carried by a vertical slide B, operated by an eccentric D which is rotated about the pivot F by a hand-lever E. Upon the lever E being raised as far as possible, the punch G is withdrawn from the work S1 and a pin E2 strikes a pivoted lever V, thereby causing a finger Y, attached to the lever V, to engage the last hole punched and advance the work an amount regulated by a stop X. Rubber springs Z, Z' are provided to bring the feed mechanism back to its normal position. The strap S1 is fed forward between two guides I which are connected by pins K passing through slots L to levers M pivoted below the table at N. The pins K are also connected by rods R to a point S on a slide O shown in dotted lines. The guides I may be moved apart by the action of a hand-lever U which draws back the slide O. A spring T moves the slide O in the opposite direction and so closes the guides I upon the work. The brass disk H' upon which the punch G descends may be raised from its socket by pressure upon a knob H', which is connected with it underneath by a rocking lever. To provide for lateral adjustment, the punch G is provided with a notched projection G', Fig. 3, which engages a projection on the punch-bar B and enables the punch to be rocked laterally and clamped in the required position by screws G2. A shoot G3 allows the punchings to fall clear of the strap.
