Improvements in Prism Monocular and Binocular Glasses.

Telescopes. - Relates to means for mounting prisms in monocular or binocular glasses in s u c h a way that they are not liable to be deranged by blows or shocks and can be readily removed for cleaning &c. and then replaced. Long conical light-screens may be used with these prisms. Means for locking binoculars when adjusted for interocular distance are described but not claimed. The prisms a, bare held in recesses in a central plate d by plates e, e1 secured to a back piece f having a dovetail sliding connexion with the inner side of the casing c. Extensions i are provided to facilitate the removal and replacement of the prisms. A long conical light-screen l is shown in position. The eyepieces u, u1 may be locked in their relative positions by a toothed part m, Fig. 3, fixed to the lug n and a toothed detent p pivoted to the lug n1 These toothed parts fit in a recess in the underside of a disk r which has a projection t which frees or locks the detent p when the disk is rotated. The eyepieces are adjusted for interocular distance, by trial or with the aid of a scale v.
